How He Asked…
“Paul popped the question on Christmas Eve 2015. We had just finished playing Santa to our 6 children… he asked with flowers and champagne too – so lovely and romantic.”
The Ceremony Details
“We decided on a Humanist Ceremony aboard the Aviemore Steam Train. The service was held in the middle of the carriage with around 50 of our nearest and dearest surrounding us. We also used a family tree to add the joining children and our finger prints onto.”

The Reception Details
“Our reception was held at the Cairngorm Hotel – this was ideally located next to the Train Station.
We dined on traditional Scottish dishes consisting of: broth or haggis balls to start, Balmoral chicken, Salmon or Steak Pie for the main course and for dessert we served Sticky Toffee Pudding.
Our entertainment was in the form of a local singer.”
The Bridal Party
“I had my sister, oldest daughter and best friend as bridesmaids who wore peach dresses, as well as our 3 younger daughters as flower girls.
For the ‘bestmen’ Paul chose all 3 of his brothers. We had our two boys as Page boys – all of the males wore kilts.”
The Bride/Grooms outfits
“I wore a lace dress bought from local bridal boutique.
Paul looked so handsome in his traditional kilt.”

The Finer Details
“Along with the children at the nursery I work at, we made decorations for the train using jars and flowers.
My bouquet was from Lotus Petal Flowers – it had peach roses and babies breath and I added a charm/photo of my late father.
For the favours , we gave our guests chocolate eggs (since its Easter) in rustic boxes.”
What Stands Out Most About Your Big Day?
“When the train came to a stop – I stood up for the ceremony to begin and my groom went dashing off to the toilet – charming!!”
“Enjoy your day and make it yours – not what everyone expects from a wedding.”

“Just to have relaxed a bit more – all the little things don’t really matter…”
