Invitation to a Real Wedding: Samantha & Stephen

by Kloe Forster

Thank you to Samantha and Stephen for sharing your gorgeous day with us.

We loved their beautiful big day with a Scottish twist! Take a look…

How He Asked…

“Every Christmas Eve, we go out for a meal with friends and on Christmas Eve 2013 Stephen proposed right in the middle of the restaurant – I was totally shocked!

We had recently moved into our first house together so it was a lovely surprise! All of our friends on that night knew and were delighted they managed to keep the secret from me.”

The Ceremony Details…

“We had a local registrar conduct the ceremony in The Three Kings in Falkirk. We had my cousin do a special reading throughout the ceremony and once we were married the registrar did ‘The Rose Ceremony’ which was lovely – a different touch to the usual wedding rituals. Everyone commented afterwards that it was so special and many of our guests had tears in their eyes because of the lovely words.

We had 120 day guests at our special day, family, friends and work colleagues. Our amazing photographer Brian Muldoon captured all our special moments throughout the day and also photographed all our guest on arrival which they could purchase after the meal.”

The Reception Details…

“We held our evening reception in The Three Kings also, with an additional 60 guests joining us.

The Three Kings offer an amazing package, which includes a three course meal per day guest and hot and cold foods on the buffet at night as well as a candy cart for the kids (and big kids!). To this day our wedding guest still speak about how amazing the food was, huge portions for a wedding meal and the night buffet was fabulous!

There was also a DJ included in our package and we couldn’t have asked for a better DJ. He played everything we requested, no matter how wacky the requests – he played it! Our sparkly dance floor was always packed.”

The Wedding Party…

“My bridesmaids were my best friends who I grew up with, who have always been there for me and my husbands sister. They wore gorgeous floor length lavender dresses from Mixbridal online.

The Best man was Stephen’s brother and Ushers were my little brother and Stephens friends. We also had our special godson as our page boy who just turned 1 the month previous. They all wore silver highlander tartan kilts with lavender cravats from Kilts4u in Glasgow.”

The Bride and Grooms outfits…

“I wore the Venezia Sophia Tolli bridal gown and veil from Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Bridal boutique in East Kilbride, Bagdley Mischka Bridal shoes from Opus Atelier in West Kilbride and gorgeous headpiece from Susan Dick Bridal Jewellery & Accessories.

Stephen wore Silver Highlander ‘tartan trews’ with the tartan tie to match from Kilts4u and black brogues from Ted Baker.”

The Finer Details…

“My beautiful bouquets were from Irene’s Florist in Falkirk. The florist took my colour scheme and likes into consideration and came up with my amazing bouquet and I wanted to keep the bridesmaids simple and went with gyp bouquets.

The Three Kings decorated my venue which included my chair covers and bows, candelabra centre pieces and mirrored table plan.

For name cards, I decided to do something a little different and did tea cakes with flags with guests names on them. The day guests received a box with Scottish tablet and macaroons inside and evening guests received a hangover bag with Irn Bru, crisps and shortbread inside. We tried to keep a Scottish theme throughout.”

What advice would you give to other Brides / Grooms to be?

“You can’t please everyone, it is the bride and grooms day!

Enjoy every second of the day as it goes by so quickly – take a moment to take it all in with your other half… enjoy the fact that all the planning has finally come together.”
