What to do if it rains on your big day..

by Lottie

Ahhh spring. We’re ready to welcome with open arms those lighter evenings, pastel coloured dresses and the prettiest of flowers!

But if you’re a bride-to-be, you might be dreading one thing…those April showers.

Here’s a list of things to do if rains on your big day:

Prepare your venue:

Most venues will have encountered this problem before and can offer a solution. Maybe there’s an inside option or they could provide a marquee?

Talk to your photographer:

Rain doesn’t have to ruin those special pictures. Have a chat with your photographer and suggest some shots like these:

We’ve found some gorgeous (and budget friendly) wedding umbrellas to get you started.

Like this heart shaped one, this pretty patterned one and even this personalised one!

Singing in the rain:

The best way to keep your guests happy is with lots of rainy day props.

Like this umbrella section, wellies and some cosy blankets!

But what about my dress?

Don’t panic! If you think nobody will be there to help with your dress, just use one of these to keep your dress from trailing in the wet.

Or go all out in this interesting Rainaway bride’s product?

And my makeup?

It’s all about that waterproof makeup (which is super helpful for happy tears, too)

Here’s our favourite waterproof mascara and foundation picks.

Lastly – embrace it!

If your sunny prayers aren’t answered and it still pours down…just go with it!

For the superstitious among you, in some cultures rain can actually mean good luck. Symbolising cleansing and fertility!

This was Louise’s advice from our group:

Try not to let the weather ruin your special day. After all ‘Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s learning to dance in the rain’.
